The core purpose of a CDL driver is to safely and efficiently transport goods, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.

Responsible for maintaining the condition of vehicles, handling logistics, and providing excellent customer service throughout routes.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
This job description is a basic explanation of the responsibilities, duties, and functions for the CDL Driver’s position. This description is subject to change at any time, depending on the requirements of the quality system and management’s needs. Develops sales, plans, and forecasts.

Pick up and deliver products, supplies, and equipment and run errands as directed by the Assistant Operations Managers.

Maintain and preserve records associated with product pick up and deliveries.

Ensure all loads are secure and that securing devices are in good condition prior to transporting.

Perform pre and post vehicle inspections to validate that the vehicle is in a safe operable condition and submit to management.

Complete and submit driver logs to management in a timely manner.

Maintain the company vehicle by renewing inspection tags, licenses, and performing preventive maintenance as required and submit to management.

Notify the Operations Manager of any issues identified with the company vehicle and/or issues surrounding deliveries/operations.

Perform work and drive the company truck in a safe manner including adherence to driving laws and company safe practices.

Inform the Operations Manager of any driving violations, tickets, and incidents that occur.

Perform housekeeping and other general warehouse maintenance activities as required.

Maintain a current driver’s license at the appropriate classification level.

Maintain a current commercial driver medical certification on file with the company.

Maintain a safe driving record and be knowledgeable of all FMCSA regulations.

Performs other tasks and assists in special projects as per supervisor’s request.

Facilitate the development of system documents such as operating procedures and work instructions that are needed in the fields operation area.

Conduct company business as directed by the company’s management and further develop the system in accordance with the company’s mission and quality objectives.

Travel as required to conduct company business and represent the company in matters pertaining to the system.

Maintain and complete information on all forms of media as required by the departments process.

Report to management any system discrepancies or opportunities for improvement regarding truck operations.

Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers.

Be familiar with and assist with the implementation of business policies of the company, to support and enhance the working environment.

Understand and perform the processes as described in the position’s written operating procedures and work instructions.

Initiate customer complaint records as situations arise.

Perform work promptly, prioritising time according to the needs of the company, and quickly performing pickups and deliveries as required by the company.
- This position operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule.
QHSE responsibilities
To have a general understanding of the areas of our QHSE Management System and OEG’s QHSE aims and objectives that are relevant to the role.

Skills and experiences

Minimum of 3 years commercial driving experience.

Possession of a current commercial driver’s license at the appropriate class level, and a safe driving record.
Qualifications

The minimum educational requirements for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent.
