Helicopter refuelling training

OPITO approved training centre

OEG’s OPITO-approved Helicopter Refuelling Training (HRT) course delivers essential knowledge for Helicopter Landing Officers (HLOs) and Helideck Assistants (HDAs) involved in helicopter refuelling operations. The course also covers daily and weekly maintenance activities related to fuelling systems. It is designed to comply with CAA CAP 437 standards for offshore helicopter landing areas and OPITO Standard 9255 requirements.

Training IAW OPITO Standard 9255 - Helicopter Refuelling Training

 

Course entry requirements

The required training prerequisites for Helicopter Refuelling Training is to have one of the following:

  • An OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training (HOIT) Certificate (achieved within the past two years)
  • A valid OPITO HDA or HLO Workplace Competence Assessment Certificate.
  • A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Member Training (HERTM) or Further HERTM Certificate.
  • A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL) or Further HERTL Training Certificate.
  • A valid OPITO HLO for NUI Operations Training Certificate.
  • A valid industry-recognised certificate or qualification which ensures an understanding of offshore Helideck Operations

Medical

Training activities contained within this product may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who take part in such activities must be capable of participating fully.

The responsibility for declaring any known current or pre-existing medical conditions that could have adverse effects to the individual’s state of health while undertaking the training activities lies with the learner and/or company sponsoring the learner.

Syllabus

The syllabus incorporates a classroom presentation/professional discussion, written/multiple choice competency exam and practical use of our bespoke refuelling system using live Jet A-1 aviation fuel, which has been designed and constructed to the same standard as would be installed and maintained offshore.

Practical training incorporates performing fuelling system daily/weekly operational maintenance activities, Jet A-1 sampling and analysis, housekeeping practices, bunkering, quality control documentation management and refuelling a simulated helicopter sponson tank, with emergency exercise.

Certification

Successful candidates will be registered and issued with an OPITO certificate, valid for 24 months.

Vantage will be automatically updated.

 

Workplace competency assessment

Upon a successful competency outcome of initial training, it is expected that candidates will then progress onto formal ongoing workplace training, development, and competence assessments by their own organisation as part of their own internal mechanisms.

HRSAT – Helicopter Refuelling System Awareness Training

OEG developed standalone awareness training, for delivery at the customers premises, incorporating a blend of classroom presentation / professional discussion and practical furling system walkthrough guidance, covering relevant CAP 437 fuelling system operational daily/weekly maintenance activities, Jet A-1 sampling and analysis, housekeeping practices, and quality control documentation administration

Course details

Training is aimed at those operational deck crew personnel whose duties specifically involve direct interaction and regular operation of onboard helicopter refuelling systems as part of their daily duties.

Training is normally delivered during system inspection and maintenance deployments by one of our trained and experienced Fuelling System Engineers.

 

Duration 2-3 hours.

Certification

A locally produced OEG attendance certificate will be issued post training as proof of attending.
