Core purpose

Lead the WTG Service Technician service line to deliver labour provision and technical projects to customers, while managing, coaching, and developing project management personnel and technicians, ensuring effective design and implementation of business and project processes. 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Drive department operations and achieve growth in line with budget targets. 

  • Manage and develop a team of project managers and coordinators to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of service line projects and tasks, both day-to-day and long term. 

  • Ensure client expectations are consistently met and exceeded. 

  • Lead and manage the project team to maintain adequate capacity and capability. 

  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

  • Lead staff development and performance management initiatives. 

  • Collaborate with the Business Development (BD) team to identify and capture growth opportunities. 

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships. 

  • Develop and implement Safe Systems of Work. 

  • Schedule and manage departmental work and tasks using Microsoft Teams and Planner. 

  • Identify, mitigate and manage project risks while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. 

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with senior management. 

  • Report on department performance through monthly reports, highlighting successes and areas for improvement. 

QHSE responsibilities

To have a general understanding of the areas of our QHSE Management System and OEG’s QHSE aims and objectives that are relevant to the role.

Comply with the requirements of OEG Energy Group Policies and the responsibilities within the wider QHSE Management System.

Skills and experiences

  • Proven experience in project management within the power or energy sector.

  • Knowledge of offshore working practices. 

  • Strong technical expertise and understanding to deliver a variety of work scopes. 

  • Knowledge of the offshore wind industry, including upcoming key projects. 

  • Proficient in Excel and Word, with a good understanding of standard contract types. 

  • Proven competence in using IT tools and systems. 

  • Experience in offshore renewable projects, including construction and O&M. 

  • Experience with software tools such as Motion Kinetic, I Auditor, and Fire Fish. 

  • Knowledge of Wind Turbine Safety Rules. 

  • Willing to travel nationally and internationally. 

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification or experience in WTG service, retrofit, and related work. 

  • Holds a valid full UK driving license. 

  • Mechanical or Electrical qualification (HNC or equivalent). 

  • Completed formal management training. 

  • IOSH certification or equivalent.
