OEG and Ørsted win Power in Collaboration Award at Global Offshore Wind Awards

OEG and Ørsted have jointly won the Power in Collaboration Award at this year’s Global Offshore Wind Awards for their apprenticeship partnership, a model built to grow the skilled workforce offshore wind needs to deliver the energy transition.

Organised by RenewableUK, the awards recognise achievement, innovation and leadership across the sector.

Supply chain companies often lack access to the operational assets needed to train apprentices. The partnership closes that gap, combining Ørsted’s apprenticeship levy funding, offshore placements and real-world turbine experience with OEG’s delivery expertise.

OEG employs the apprentices and manages the programme, providing accredited training and a structured route into careers as offshore wind technicians. Ørsted gives them access to its wind farms, so new entrants learn on live operational assets from the start.

The first cohort of 21 apprentices builds on Ørsted’s track record of supporting more than 100 apprentices, with close to 100% completion and 100% progression into offshore wind roles.

The approach gives the industry a scalable blueprint for workforce development, strengthening the supply chain and the wider offshore wind sector.

The two companies were shortlisted together for the Power in Collaboration Award and OEG was also a finalist in the Future Leader, Powering the Future Workforce and Asset Lifecycle Excellence categories.

Dean Coates, Operations Director (Topside) at OEG, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have been recognised at this year’s Global Offshore Wind Awards.”

“To be shortlisted across four categories at this year’s awards highlights our continued contribution to the offshore wind sector and our ongoing commitment to delivering specialist energy solutions while supporting the people and skills that will underpin the industry’s future. Offshore wind needs skilled people and well-maintained assets in equal measure, and we’ll keep investing in both. Congratulations to all other nominees and winners.”
