Under OPITO’s Helicopter Refuelling Workplace Competence Assessment Standard (9256), OEG is now approved to conduct on site competency assessments by deploying qualified assessors globally offshore. These assessments evaluate an individual’s practical skills and underpinning knowledge across all stages of helideck refuelling operations, including preparation, live refuelling activities and safe shutdown procedures.

The new accreditation enables OEG to support duty holders and operators in demonstrating workforce competence and compliance with industry best practice, helping to further enhance safety across offshore aviation operations.

Clive Hoskisson, OEG’s Regional Managing Director for UKEAC, said:

“This capability reflects OEG’s ongoing investment in expanding our aviation services portfolio. By adding OPITO approved helicopter refuelling workplace assessments, we are strengthening our ability to provide integrated, end to end aviation support solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

Graham Short, Training Operations Manager for OEG, added:

“This accreditation comes at a particularly important time, as the industry continues to place increased focus on offshore aviation safety and operational assurance. Achieving OPITO approval allows us to support our clients with robust, standardised competency assessments that align with recognised industry benchmarks and reinforce safe helicopter refuelling practices offshore”

This marks OEG’s second OPITO accreditation, following approval for OPITO Standard 9255 – Helicopter Refuelling Training. Delivery of this training course was designed and developed as an adaption to a similar Helicopter Refuelling System Awareness Training (HRSAT) course which OEG has delivered to the industry over the last 30+ years, drawing on the extensive knowledge and experience of our team of subject matter experts to add value to the OPITO standard framework. Delivered at the company’s state of the art Helicopter Refuelling Training Centre in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, the facility is the only training facility of its kind in the UK to use DefStan 91-091 compliant JET A-1 fuel rather than an analogue such as water within its purpose-built refuelling system.

The new OPITO approved service further complements OEG’s established aviation offering which includes the survey, repair, maintenance and manufacture of JET A-1 helifuel equipment; helicopter refuelling system awareness training, consultancy services, and stock management solutions.
