OEG’s journey to become one company with a shared vision and endless possibilities

Over the past few years, OEG has undergone a remarkable period of transformation, evolving from a trusted global leader in the provision of cargo logistics equipment to the oil & gas industry (with a unique 50-year heritage) into a comprehensive, all-energy solutions company, with a leading offshore renewables services offering that is positioned for energy transition opportunities and growth. In this article, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Caroline Merson reflects on our journey, sharing the rationale behind our recent brand repositioning, and highlights how we are uniting our capabilities, people, and services to support the future of the global energy sector.

Reflecting on our journey over the past 12 months at OEG, we’ve achieved a lot - and what a ride it has been. The business has undergone major transformation – being acquired by Apollo with an implied valuation of $1billion, increasing our headcount and adding more services and products to our offering through organic and inorganic growth – and we are just getting started.

At the heart of our continued growth and evolution is OEG’s ambition to be an all-energy provider, providing mission critical equipment services and solutions to support the broader energy sector. Having a brand and market narrative that reflects this ambition is key to our ongoing success.

OEG is a recognised, strong, transformational and successful brand, which has previously been represented by sub-brands focused around particular sectors or specialisms. Earlier this year we made the strategic decision to shift our brand strategy to a ‘branded house’ model, moving away from having a collection of brands to promote our diverse range of services, to a single purpose-led and powerful brand that showcases our collective strength, all under ‘OEG’.

A single brand adds further meaning and clarity to the OEG name, making it impactful and representative of our unity and market intent. Today, it is an acronym for ‘One Energy Group’ which clearly sets out who we are, how we deliver and the markets we serve. It resonates well with our employees as we consolidate our business and grow together as one team, aligns our culture around shared core values and strengthens our commitment to make a real difference for our customers.

Whilst our cargo logistics division was already well established and co-ordinated, having been a leading player in the market for several decades, we’ve now begun the process of bringing together all our offshore renewables acquisitions under OEG to offer a comprehensive and integrated range of services across the lifecycle of offshore wind projects.

For OEG, there is huge merit in going to market as ‘one’, especially with so many complementary capabilities under our roof. We have ambitious plans for growth and through the foundations of a single united company and brand, we have greater horsepower and an enhanced service offering to support our customers at scale.

For our customers, one company with one brand translates to greater collective expertise, broader capabilities, and a more powerful strategic partner to support the full lifecycle of their energy projects. It provides absolute clarity, confidence, and reassurance that every part of OEG is aligned and committed to delivering exceptional value.
